BRING REIKO HOME

IF YOU SEE ME

Hello.

I hope you’re kind.

My name is Reiko.

I’m small,

but I belong to something very big—

a love that is still looking for me.

If you see me,

please don’t be afraid.

I might be quiet.

I might be watching first.

To see if you are the one who will bring me home

I didn’t mean to disappear.

I didn’t wander from home.

I was taken.

Things happened faster than I understood,

and suddenly the world was unfamiliar

and my name was missing from the air.

If I’m somewhere you don’t expect,

please know this:

I am not stray.

I am not forgotten.

I am not unloved.

Someone is searching for me

every single day.

Someone knows the sound of my steps,

the way my ears tilt when I’m listening,

the way I sleep when I feel safe.

If you hear barking

that doesn’t sound angry,

just lonely—

if you see a small white and tan dog, with a dark muzzle

who seems like she’s waiting

for something she can’t explain—

that might be me.

Please help me find my way back

to my moms.

Please look twice.

Please ask one more question.

Please share my face

with someone who might know where I belong.

And if you can’t help directly,

please don’t turn away.

Sometimes love travels

through strangers.

My moms are still looking.

I know because I feel it.

And when you help them,

you help me too.

Thank you

for seeing me.

Thank you

for helping love come home.

Love, Reiko
